Upcoming Week 5 of College Football

Last weekend certainly had some excitement with 4 or so highly ranked teams losing and such. Will there be any upsets this weekend? I sure hope so. Luckily my Oklahoma State Cowboys won't have to worry about getting upset since we have the week off. The bye week comes at a good time for us since we had some key players out last week nursing some injuries. Hopefully we'll have Kendall Hunter and Dez Bryant back for the October 10th game against Texas A&M.

Looking at this weeks schedule there are only 3 games featuring two ranked teams. They are:

#4 LSU at #19 Georgia
#7 USC at #24 California
#8 Oklahoma at #17 Miami (FL)

All three of those have the potential to be pretty exciting. Georgia has been looking pretty solid the last few games after the first week loss to Oklahoma State. LSU on the other hand had some trouble putting away Mississippi State last week. So are they really deserving of being ranked 4th?

The USC - California game had some high hopes riding on it but both teams have now lost a game recently. USC losing a couple of weeks ago to Washington and California getting blown away by Oregon last week. So who is going to step up and take control of the Pac-10?

OU and Miami is another exciting match-up. Of course OU lost the first game against BYU but have rebounded nicely, especially considering they've been without Sam Bradford. He might be coming back for this game though so it should be interesting to see how that shoulder is doing. Miami was looking real good till they stumbled against Virginia Tech last week. Can they rebound?

Other games to keep an eye on are:

#22 Michigan at Michigan State - Can Michigan finally win a game outright or will they have to wait till the closing minutes to finally decide to do something?

#9 Ohio State at Indiana - Indiana should have come away with a win last week against Michigan.

#25 Georgia Tech at Mississippi State - Georgia Tech needs to decide which team is going to show up and MSU nearly came away with a big win against LSU last week.

Random Thoughts on the Cowboys-Panthers game.

The first thing to say would probably have to be about that sorry stinking first half of the game. I went to bed shortly after the second half started because I was pretty disappointed in the way the Cowboys were playing and I just didn't want to stay up that late watching them play like crap. But it was nice to wake up to a Cowboy's win, 21-7. That is always a good feeling.

One bad thing is that Felix Jones was banged up a little bit and will miss a couple of weeks due to a sprained posterior cruciate ligament, but atleast he won't be out for the season so that is good to hear.

Wee also got our first sacks and turnovers of the season, so we are now no longer the only team without a sack or turnover. Excellent.

More thoughts coming here in a bit.

Thoughts on Week 3 of the NFL

I was finally able to get my laptop to work again so now I should be able to resume posting regularly again. Well, I hope to anyways.

So did anything exciting happen in Week 3? Uh, yeah, the Lions freaking WON!! Wow, finally their first win in like 19 games. The Redskins sure are stinking up so far this year. Let's hope they keep playing like this that way my Cowboys will get two easy wins out of them. But who am I kidding here? The 'Boys could still find a way to lose the game.

The Steelers have let another game slip through their fingers this week losing to the stinking Bengals. Bad thing is, is that the Steelers were leading the whole game and then let the Bengals march all the way down the field in the closing minutes and score the game winning touchdown. Now they are 0-2 without Troy. He really needs to hurry up and get healthy again so Pittsburgh can right the ship and start playing like champions again.

Brett Favre and the Viking were able to pull out a win against the 49ers in what was probably the unlikely game of the week coming into this week. Favre threw an amazing touchdown pass in the closing seconds to win. Click here to see the video.

The Eagles offense looked pretty good even without McNabb in the game, but then again they were playing against the Chiefs. The NY Jets won for the 3rd straight week, although their defense finally gave up their first touchdown of the season.

The Cowboys play Monday night against the Panthers. The way the Panthers have been playing we should be able to come away with a victory, but you never know which Tony Romo will show up. The Tony that has flashes of greatness (like against Tampa Bay) or the Tony that stinks up the field (like against the Giants). Guess we'll see Monday night.

Damn there were a lot of ranked teams losing this Saturday. Unfortunately I missed pretty much everything today. But I did get to spend some time with some special girls, though.

I'll post some thought's on the day's action tomorrow. Right now going to finish watching the Texas Tech - Houston game then go to bed.

The first half score of the Missouri - Nevada game was a low scoring surprise I'm sure for most people. Both defenses were playing much better than expected. Then the offenses finally kicked in a little bit in the second half and Missouri came away with the win. Missouri Quarterback Gabbert looked pretty good. He looks like he could become a big time player in the future.

Should have a pretty good Saturday of football. There are a couple of interesting matchups this week. There is #9 Miami against #11 Virginia Tech. Miami has been rising fast up the ranks and are looking pretty impressive. I see Miami coming away with the win. Then there is Iowa at #5 Penn State. Can Penn State avenge their devastating loss to the Hawkeyes last year? I think they can and it should be a pretty good game.

There's also the third round of THE TOUR Championship. Tiger's in the lead so far. Can he stay there?

Watching the Missouri - Nevada game and I have to say that I've been really disappointed in Nevada. They're 0-2 to start off the season. I thought they would of played better against Notre Dame but they didn't even show up for the game. Maybe they will finish strong.

Fairly Interesting First Day of CFB

I have to say that the first Saturday of the College Football season was somewhat interesting. Usually there are not a whole lot of good games the first week or so cause everyone seems to be playing creampuff teams and what not, but we did have a few strong match ups and a few upsets.

My W-L total for Saturday was 55-7. I should of had one more win cause I normally would have picked BYU over Oklahoma, simply for the fact that I absolutely hate Oklahoma with a passion, but for some reason I picked OU and guess what? THEY LOSS!!! Excellent, and my Oklahoma State Cowboys won!

I must of been giving Nevada a little to much confidence over the lack luster Irishmen of Notre Dame, cause apparently Nevada didn't even show up and couldn't even score getting rocked 35-0. Could Notre Dame actually be pretty decent this year?

Fantasy Football Team

A group of us at work started a Fantasy Football league where everyone pays in 20 bucks to enter and at the end of the season the winner gets a share of the money and so forth. I'm pretty excited to see how the season will unfold. This is just one of the few times that I've played this fantasy football stuff although I've always wanted to take part in it.

We had our draft last week but I wasn't able to take part in the live draft so I just pre-ranked some of the players that I wanted on my team. Obviously I didn't get all the players that I had listed but I did get a lot of them and overall I'm pretty pleased with my list, with the exception of my wide-receiving core.

My team looks like this...

QB - Tony Romo (Dal)
WR - Dwayne Bowe (KC)
WR - Jerricho Cotchery (NYJ)
RB - Maurice Jones-Drew (Jac)
RB - Joseph Addai (Ind)
TE - Jason Witten (Dal)
BN - Brandon Marshall (Den)(WR)
BN - Chad Pennington (Mia)(QB)
BN - Brandon Pettigrew (Det)(TE)
BN - Jonathan Stewart (Car)(RB)
BN - Beanie Wells (Ari)(RB)
BN - Donnie Avery (Stl)(WR)
K - Nick Folk (Dal)
BN - Adam Vinatieri (Ind)(K)
DEF - Pittsburgh
BN - New England

I think I'll be pretty solid on the DEF points with both Pittsburgh and New England. Should also be pretty solid in the K position. Well I believe I'm pretty solid everywhere except for WR. The computer drafted that dumbass Brandon Marshall so I do need drop him and add another hopefully more productive WR. Unfortunately there are not to many good WR left in the Free Agents list. So I guess we'll just see how things go.

College Football is here!!!

Finally, the long agonizing wait is now over and it's the start of another season of College Football. Let's hope that this year is just as exciting as last year was.

For the first week of the season we have a handful of interesting match ups like #16 at #14 Boise State. Of course this game was played Thursday night with Boise State winning and then the interesting thing that happened after the game when one of the Oregon running backs Blount punched a Boise State player. Blount was suspended the whole season the next day.

Today (Saturday 5th) has 3 Top 25 match ups beginning with my boys #9 Oklahoma State at home against #13 Georgia. Should definitely be an interesting game. Hopefully our defense will show up this year. We also have #20 vs. #3 Oklahoma playing at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium. Then the third match up is #5 Alabama vs. #7 Virginia Tech. Why the hell is Virginia Tech always ranked so high every freaking year. They are always OVERRATED!!!

Here is the list of today's game with my picks to win the game in green and at the end of the year I'm going to tally up the results and see how good I was, hopefully. My picks won't be based on points spread or any of that crap, just straight up. Since I missed the games Thursday and Friday I won't add them to the total. At the end of the day I'll add the scores of the games to the list.
